Here's a little history of the flat and the mill. It is situated in the Peak District - the first National Park in the UK. The Cressbrook Mill complex is situated in the delightfully sounding Water-cum-Jolly Dale. The mill was first built on this site in the late 18th century by Richard Arkwright (of the cotton spinning water frame fame). It burnt down and was rebuilt and added to over time before being closed in the 1960's. In the 1990's it was renovated and made into living units. Bobbin Mill itself is extensively renovated/rebuilt whilst the other structures are more original.
There are some interesting and perhaps a little disturbing stories of the mill's history here.
There is also a Wikipedia entry for Cressbrook here.
